A Look at What’s Ahead

As 2013 winds to an end, we would like to share our thoughts regarding some key trends and themes we see for 2014. Despite an ever more competitive landscape, we continue to see opportunities for organizations to excel and differentiate themselves in the marketplace.

1. Financial organizations will place greater resources against vertical and lifestyle segment marketing in highly targeted marketing initiatives designed to demonstrate expertise and understanding of the unique issues and opportunities these prospects may face. Key elements include value-added educational efforts, segment specific packaging of solutions and enhanced marketing and event strategies designed around segment characteristics and needs.

2. Alternative investments will continue to become more main stream as investors seek asset classes which can provide greater diversification, the potential for enhanced returns and lower correlations to traditional asset classes. To meet this demand, an increasing number of alternative products with lower minimums, greater liquidity and transparency are being launched to serve the mass affluent, wealthy and institutional markets.

3. Values-based investing (VBI) will continue to grow as an investment category as the millennials and other generations seek investment philosophies in line with their personal ethics and values. Wealth management firms that incorporate a recognition of this trend are poised to benefit, as are asset management firms that are leaders in strategies that incorporate environmental, social and governance factors into their investment process.

4. Technological developments will allow wealth advisors to enhance their consultative ability and deliver greater value and insight to their clients. The ability to aggregate assets from a variety of managers and custodians and analyze client portfolios based on highly refined criteria will provide advisors and clients with a depth of information and a perspective previously unavailable.

We at Optima Group wish you a prosperous 2014, with a very happy and healthy New Year to you and your families.
