And the winner is…

This is the moment you have all been waiting for… Pantone’s Color of the Year-drum roll please-is Greenery, “A refreshing and revitalizing shade, symbolic of new beginnings.”

As Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute explains “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

We love this color. We celebrate its existence in the world around us in the ordinary things we see every day. Maybe now that Pantone has pointed out its vitality we will find the time to stop, take a deep breath and enjoy all that is refreshing and flourishing.

But what if you’re not feeling it?

Greenery definitely provides a sense of the outdoors, fresh air and sunshine, but what if you’re looking for something a little more soothing? We’ve got the solution. Sherwin William’s Color of the Year is Poised Taupe, it “creates a cozy lifestyle and brings a sense of sanctuary into our homes. It diffuses the stresses of the world outside our doors…”

We won’t claim to be interior designers, but don’t you think this room could use a splash of Greenery?

Interestingly, though the colors are quite different, they both stress the message of sanctuary from the tumult of the human world and reconnection with a more natural environment. Clearly the world of color is trying to tell us something about how to address the intensity of today’s world. So breathe deep and enjoy some calming Greenery or Poised Taupe.
