Pantone has announced a red wine hue as its color of the year. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute® says: “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.” Interesting that she failed to mention corporate communications in her list of things you can do with this earthy color. And no doubt the financial industry will ignore Pantone’s choice, simply because it is a shade of (the color that shall not be named)-the color red!
No need to worry, if you choose to use Marsala it can be paired with all sorts of colors which will make your palette sophisticated, bold, or brilliant. We welcome the use of red wine in design and look forward to a full year of this “subtly seductive shade, one that draws us into its embracing warmth.” After reading that description by Pantone we don’t know why you wouldn’t use it!
